# What parents and students can see

> An overview of the parent and student portals — what each role has access to.

## The parent portal

Parents log in at [app.classquill.com](https://app.classquill.com) and land on their **Home** page, which shows all tutors linked to their child.

### What parents can access

| Section        | What's there                                                                       |
| -------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Home**       | Tutors linked to their child — click any tutor to see sessions, chat, and homework |
| **Calendar**   | Upcoming and past sessions; book, reschedule, or cancel                            |
| **Messages**   | Direct messaging with tutors                                                       |
| **Billing**    | All invoices, payment history, PDF receipts                                        |
| **Find Tutor** | Browse and book tutors in the org                                                  |
| **Settings**   | Profile, phone number, notification preferences                                    |

### What parents can see about their child

* Upcoming and completed sessions (dates, tutors, duration)
* Session summaries written by the tutor after each lesson
* Homework assigned to their child and completion status
* Progress reports (topic coverage, weakness areas, time studied)
* Messages between the child and tutor (read-only view)

## The student portal

Students see a different interface tailored to learning.

### What students can access

| Section      | What's there                                                                 |

| **Home**     | Learning Hub — quick links to active homework, saved questions, and AI tools |
| **Study**    | Practice questions filtered by subject and topic                             |
| **Ask AI**   | AI study assistant — ask questions, upload photos of problems                |
| **Calendar** | Upcoming sessions and homework due dates                                     |
| **Messages** | Chat with their tutor                                                        |
| **Progress** | Weakness analytics, topic coverage, time studied                             |
| **News**     | Org announcements and updates                                                |

### What students cannot do

* Book sessions themselves (parents or admins book on their behalf)
* See other students' data
* Access billing or payments

## Messaging is contained

All messaging happens within ClassQuill. Tutor ↔ student and parent ↔ tutor messaging is separate — no cross-over, no random DMs from outside the platform.
